This Week...
This week was definitely intense at the gym, full of kettlebells, snatches, and rowing...but Friday was balls to the wall (literally)
10 HSPU
15 Deadlift 175/245
25 Box Jump 24/32
50 Pull Up
100 Wall Ball 14/20
200 Double Under
400m Plate Carry 25/45
Great job to everyone that survived that butt kickin WOD and extra props to Jenn who did the 400m plate carry not once, but 3 times just to push others to keep going! It's so awesome to go to a place to workout where there's so many other athletes that inspire and go out of their way to make sure others succeed.

"Yes! Only 4 more to go...hey, she's already done?"
I hear many people saying they can't do Crossfit (or other workouts) for the simple fact that they are TOO out of shape. Honestly, I was one of those people. I looked Jason and Justin (owners of Conviction Crossfit) right in the face and said "I'm too fat to workout". Their response was nothing but laughter and I now know why they laughed. Just because I was over weight didn't mean that I couldn't do the workout. Just because the other people there were faster didn't mean anything when it came to my time. The one thing I had to keep telling myself was "They all had their 1st day in this gym, so they've all been where I was".
I know all too well the fear of walking into a Crossfit gym and seeing all the athletes (yes, athletes) in there throwing weights over their heads, doing 120 wall balls, 7 min of burpees...of course my first response was "HELL NO" and walked right out the door lol but I gathered up my strength and came back; so when people say "It's so hard" you're damn right it's hard but the hardest part is walking in the door.
It's great to be competitive and see who's faster and all that but mostly your biggest competition is going to be you. It was so aggravating seeing everyone finish the workouts before I did and have better times then me, but it wasn't until owners and coaches pointed out that just because other people beat my score doesn't mean that what I did wasn't good. Being so worried about the other athletes i completely over looked that i had been beating my own scores the whole time. So, with all that said... WALK THROUGH THE DOOR AND KICK SOME ASS! =)

Over the past 5 months...
Since starting at Conviction Crossfit my whole way of thinking has changed when it comes to my health. It's like i don't just want to be skinny...i wanna be healthy. I wanna be strong.
I'm not gonna lie, there's so many days i don't want to do it. I would rather stay at home and watch a movie or just sleep but I know that if i go, in one hour i will be that much better then i was yesterday and the day before that. I cant take all the credit though, there's so many awesome people up there that will not let you quit, will not let you fail.
A lot of people have been asking me what i eat or if my diet changed much. OH YES! lol. Crossfitters are all about Paleo! Which is often referred to as the caveman diet. Back before Drive thru's, Diner's, and tv dinners, Men hunted (Grunt lol)! They ate fresh veggies, meat, meat, and more meat. They ate berries and didnt drink soda's....they were cavemen with nice bodies.
I started eating paleo when i first got here but i wasn't as stricked about it as i needed to be so I'm now on day 8 of my 30 days of no sugar, no grains, and no beer.
What's that you ask? No grains? But the nice man on TV said I should eat whole grains? WRONG!!
I'm not gonna get into all of it here but if you google "whole grains are bad for you" it'll give you the run down.
I've been going to the gym as much as possible and talking everyone i know TO DEATH about Crossfit. When i first got here i thought these people where nuts always talking about working out but once i got into it i see how addicting it becomes. For me the addiction started at the Crossfit Regionals, watching everyone working out like their life depended on it, the sweat, the weights, the cheering, that's when I was hooked! My goal is to definitely one day be competing but i know i just gotta take it one burpee at a time.
I read something the other day that said "The workout doesn't get easier, you just get better". I thought that was true until i did a workout a few wks ago that will haunt me for the rest of my life! 300 meters of burpees and long jumps! It was the first time i ever cried in a workout lol but i didn't quit and that's why when people tell me "oh, i don't know if i can do it"...YES YOU CAN! As much as i hated that workout, i did it and i left that day with my head held high (figuratively speaking lol)

How it all started...
For so many years I did one crash diet after another, "ooo lets count points" "I know! I'll eat this whole pizza today and just won't eat anything tomorrow". Sound familiar? lol
After having two kids and reaching a grand total of 340 lbs i knew that I couldn't make anymore excuses, something had to be done.
In February 2012 i packed up the kiddo's, moved from Texas (the land of fried food and ranch dressing) to Colorado; the Healthiest state in the U.S. My uncle owns Conviction Crossfit in Erie, Colorado so i started there right away. I had know idea what crossfit was but i was soon gonna learn about the beast that is Crossfit!
Walking into the Gym for the 1st time being so over weight, not knowing any of the workouts, so sure there was probably nacho cheese somewhere on my face was probably the same feeling one would get if they showed up to prom with their dad lol. I just knew they were judging me, waiting for me to fail. I couldn't have been more wrong. They were all so supportive and cheering me on without even knowing who i was. My first workout was 2 min of burpees, I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DIE! haha
Well it is now 5 months later, I can dead lift 225, and I'm down 47 lbs, but still have a long road ahead which is why i started this blog, so the people who have just started crossfit can join in on my little journey.
